I consider this statement on the Vietnam War by Sheldon Richman in the Nov. 1988 issue of Liberty: “The tragedy of Vietnam is not that ‘we’ did not win it. It is that Truman, Eisenhower, Kennedy, Johnson, Nixon, and their people were so presumptuous as to think that Vietnam was theirs to dispose of.”
This is exactly the problem with the US empire. We allow the government to dispose of innocent people in other countries as they see fit to do so. Madness!
